Peanut butter and chocolate. This is a match made in heaven. Is there anything better? I will tell you. No. There is not. Don’t even try to think of something better. Seriously. Don’t.
These little chocolates are a homemade version of everyone’s favorite candy. You know the one. These are so easy and you likely already have all of the ingredients in your pantry!
Let’s get started. Melt some chocolate down in a double boiler. Don’t let this statement scare you. Any type of chocolate will do. Whether you have chocolate chips, a bar of chocolate, or melting wafers, they will all work.
Double Boiler How To:
- Put a glass bowl over a pot with a few inches of water.
- You don’t want the water touching the bowl.
- Turn the heat on so that the water is simmering and add your chocolate to the glass bowl.
- Give it a few minutes and stir.
- Voila, you did it! You’re on your way to making all sorts of delicious treats.
Once the chocolate is melted, you can put in in your molds. You don’t need to do anything to the molds, don’t spray them or treat them at all, it will seize your chocolate. Your chocolates will pop out of the molds just fine once they are set. I like to use a teaspoon and drop a small amount of chocolate into the mold and then use the back of the spoon to coat the insides of the mold. Place your filled molds into the fridge to cool.
Next, gather your peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar. Now that the chocolate is cooling, add your innards ingredients to a small saucepan and heat slowly until all combined. Take this mixture off of the heat and let cool slightly. Add this delicious mixture to a piping bag. Honestly, I would pipe everything if I could. I think it is just easier. If you find that using a spoon or pouring it from a measuring cup is more your speed, please, do you. You know you better than me, so you decided your path in life. However you decide to get the peanut butter goodness into the chocolately exterior, put an equal amount in each well. Chill this for about 10 minutes.
Once your peanut buttery chocolatey delights are chilled, you can add the final layer of chocolate. Put a dollop of chocolate on each well and smooth with an offset spatula. You may need to reheat your chocolate slightly if it is starting to set. Chill for at least an hour or until fully set. To serve just peel the mold off and make your friends and family (and stomach) very happy. You are a candy making machine. Well done!
